Hi, is this problem on your Android device, or on Windows/Mac/Linux?

For "desktop" versions of Firefox, you can launch a completely private session using the newer icon with the mask. But the regular icon should still launch a regular session unless you went to the Settings page and change the History selector to "Never remember history" or checked the box for "Always use private browsing mode". Both of those will prevent you from using regular windows.

If you check the "Can I set Firefox to always use Private Browsing?" section of the following article, you can find those settings and straighten them out if needed: Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history.
