Firefox opens but the browser window itself will not display. It always behaves as if it is minimized. Right-clicking Firefox in the taskbar and selecting maximize or restore does nothing. When selecting 'Bring to front' and 'switch to' via task manager, taskbar reflects that the FF program has taken focus but the FF window still remains hidden. Reinstallation, virus scans, and all of the other obvious steps to remedy have made no change. Help!

Try starting Firefox in its safe mode. https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode#Safe_Mode_window

Then check the box that says Reset toolbars and controls Finally press the make changes and restart button.

That should reset the Firefox window location.

I opened CCleaner; after clearing the Firefox session, the program returned to normal.

Notes: I did a cold boot (shut down and restart) to no avail. I tried right-clicking, etc. to no avail.

On CCleaner (a free utility download from FileHippo or similar site), I only checked the boxes for cache and session, to see what would happen. The cache had 0 bytes, presumably because I'd done a cold boot. So, you really just need to close Firefox, clear the session using CCleaner and restart Firefox.
