Firefox is improperly displaying content in the pull-down menus; not all of the text appears in the menus.

The items in the pull-down menus oftentimes display incorrectly in that they seem to be unable to list consecutively without large gaps between the choices. For example, in the View menu the first three items (toolbar, status bar, sidebar) display fine but i have to scroll past a significant amount of blank space in the menu before the rest of the menu (stop, reload, zoom, etc.) appear. This also affects the menus that appear when I right click within Firefox. There is plenty of room on my display for the menus to appear. The issue only affects Firefox.

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

See Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems and Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

  • Use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions.
  • Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
