Just recently this problem started - while I'm moving my mouse around the page that I'm looking at or scrolling around OPENS into a NEW WINDOW. It happens very frequently and is quite annoying. Thanks!

There doesn't seem to be a pattern to the mouse movement. It just happens when I move the mouse around. It opens the page up in a new window in front of the other tabs that I've been working on. It happens at least every two minutes.

Make sure that you do not drag a tab in the browser window.
Firefox 3.5 versions and later have a feature called tear-off tabs.
You can detach a tab from the current window and open it in a new window by dragging a tab in the browser window.
You can drag that tab back to the tab bar in the original window to undo that detaching.

Thanks, but, I don't have to be anywhere near the tab for it to happen. I can be in the middle of the page. Movement of mouse may be in the up motion though.

I tried the 'bug489729' but it caused other problems that I COULDN'T live with. Any other solutions? It is terribly annoying. I certainly don't WANT to change from firefox but I may not have a choice. It does this every 5 minutes (or less).
