The Page Up, Page Dn keys no longer usually work under 8.0.1 (using Dell laptop w/WinXP, no mouse). I tried changing the touchball 'hack' setting in about:config from -1 to 0, but no change. The 'arrow' keys also seem to be less useful, but I haven't figured out any pattern to those yet.

Did you try "F7" turning caret browsing off, sorry someone threw a curve on the tab switching stuff now I read that into something that it's not in, See the first two links.

The Ctrl+TAB brought up in the second link to move to the next or previous TAB certainly works for me, I'd be lost without it. But it was said to be lost when the tabs were changed to horizontal scrolling, and I do not allow horizontal scrolling of tabs. I will put a more complete answer there for that aspect,

Now I'm not sure how to isolate problem... I should have done [next tip ahead] before, but thought what I tried before was sufficient. I opened a long 'text' file in the browser to see how the Page Up, Page Dn & arrow keys would work, and they appear to work fine. But on 'html' pages of popular websites, the keys do not work right. The arrow keys don't work at all sometimes, and the Page Up, Page Dn keys sometimes work in 'semaphore' fashion; that is, pressing Page Up 'once' does nothing, then 2nd time, page moves up; 3rd time, nothing; 4th time, page moves up, etc. (Note: I also tried changing the 2 'scroll' related settings in Tools>Options>Advanced>General, but those had no effect. I left both 'on".) [Also, I never use Tab & Ctrl keys for scrolling, and using them now does not affect anything.] This is only about the Page Up Page Dn and arrow keys, which used to work fine pre-8.0.1, and now do not work as expected.

Thanks for the 'caret browsing' explanation. Somehow my looking into that 'reset' the scroll-key controls. Here's why I'm not positive, yet it must have worked: I've never seen the 'caret browsing' warning dialog box before. I visited the 'warn' setting in about:config, and found it set to "true" (also, not stated in bold). I 'toggled' that control, and it switched to "false" (and showed in bold). Then I toggled again to leave it at 'true'. I also pressed F7 (& got the dialog box, in which I chose 'cancel'), for good measure. At this point, the scrolling keys began working fine.

Hitting F7 fixed the problem. Wow! That was simple.
