Since 7/2012, the Javascript for Hotmail's contact autocomplete on the Compose email page has been hanging for me: - I finally fixed it with the nuclear fix: 'Reset Firefox'. I'm posting this to notify you there are undiagnoseable site-specific Javascript issues. - hanging means the , it does *not* mean the 'Unresponsive script' error - only happens in FF (15.0.1), but not IE - it was not due to any addons, or any about:config setting. I tried everything in the FF knowledgebase. - removed all my addons and deleted all important non-default about:config settings - did a line-by-line diff on prefs.js and didn't find anything - impossible to diagnose. Finally did 'Reset Firefox'

Did you try to clear the cache?

You can always try these basic steps first if pages aren't working properly:

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (MAC)

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

No, I already said "I tried everything in the FF knowledgebase". Over four months.

I cleared the cache a billion times, deleted cookies, removed add-ons, changed my prefs.js back, etc.
