i had a refresh button and stop button in the navigation bar which is shown alternatively. That is when a page is being loaded a stop button appears and after the page is loaded a refresh button appears. it does not appear now i somehow refreshed the settings. how do i get this back ?

Try to get right-click with mouse on top of firefox and select Customize...then select Restore Default and then press ok...Solved?

thanks that worked. something that i noticed is that when refresh and stop buttons are placed after the navigation bar they get embedded in the navigation bar

Swap the position of those two buttons and they will show outside the Location Bar. The UI is designed to work that way; when in the default position those two buttons go into the Location Bar; when moved either or both will appear where the user places them on any Toolbar. And when those two are swapped left to right, to the right of the Location Bar, they will appear there.
