Why doesn't BT Sport play on my laptop in Firefox 24.0 when it does in IE?

The video for BT Sport won't play in Firefox 24.0, with the circular 'loading' icon just spinning. I can get it playing in IE and on my Nexus 7 no problems. Am I missing some sort of add-on/plug-in?

Sometimes, the video or audio content in a web page cannot be properly downloaded and displayed in Firefox. A required plugin may be missing, outdated, blocked.

Thanks for the response, but how do I find out if a plug-in is missing? It must be something that only BT Sport needs because I can play Sky Sports football with Firefox fine.

BT needs an extra add-on (called playsomething-or-other) for security reasons in Silverlight, But I downloaded that some time ago.

It's a bit annoying as I can get it fine with IE (via the BT website) or on the Nexus 7 tablet (via the BT Sport app) which hasn't got a brilliant video-playing reputation as Flash Player isn't supported.

Please Go through the article, and try to install other plugins like QuickTime plugin. Some more plugins and various options are given there, please check which one of them meets your need.

Well, here's a strange one. A Quicktime download solved it (I thought it was installed already) - BUT the video will only play if, after bringing up the appropriate BT Sport page, I go to 'Tools' and click on 'Add-ons' and bring up the Add-on Manager page. No need to click on anything else, just simply display the page! What?! The plug-in is 'Always Activate'.
