Hi!

Firefox itself doesn't store any contact information; are you talking about something like Yahoo! Mail or Mozilla's Thunderbird?

Thanks for the clarification!

Hello Epicaleb, Thank for your response as it does square with my failure to locate the contact lists that used to be on the left side panel of my Firefox email window. What I can't figure out is what happened to them. Eighteen months ago I downloaded several hundred email addresses from my Firefox server to my new Samsung Galaxy SIII smart phone. Can you or anyone help me solve this puzzle? Thanks

"locate the contact lists that used to be on the left side panel of my Firefox email window"

Are you referring to Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, etc.?

Thanks for the clarification!

No, it was G-mail. Thanks for that question. Yes, the contact list was formerly on the G-mail site. Does this help in shedding light on my question.

Hmmm...I'm still having a little trouble visualizing your situation; would you please post a screenshot of what the problem looks like? If you need help to create a screenshot, please see How do I create a screenshot of my problem?.

Thanks!

The layout of Gmail changes from time to time. Maybe this link will help:

http://www.google.com/contacts

Here is a screen shot of my g-mail screen. The contact list appeared in the left panel. I still have the categories, but they contain no files. Still a mystery. Thanks for working with me. Clark

To jscher: Thanks for the link. I found this on my gmail screen, but all the files were empty except for emails I have sent in the past 2 days. Formerly there had been several hundred under the various categories.

Correct me if I'm wrong:

You DO have all your contacts properly organized, etc. in your Gmail account and they can be view by clicking Gmail > Contacts,

BUT

You DON'T have the contacts showing up in the left pane. Are they supposed to ALL be listed in the pane?

Thanks!

Hello EpiCaleb, While your question doesn't solve my problem, it does, along with a post from jscher2000 referring me to http://www.google.com/contacts, provide me with crucial pieces of a very disturbing puzzle. My concern about my contact list arises from the fact that my gmail account was hacked 3 days ago and fraudulent messages sent to all my contacts. It now appears that in this process, the hacker deleted all my contact information. The only contacts remaining are from e-mails I have sent since Tuesday--all the other categories are blank. I have also just discovered that the contact lists stored on my cell phone have also been erased. I'm really not sure what steps I should or can take at the moment, but I think this explains my dilemma. Thank you for your suggestions, comments and assistance. Do you by chance have any advice about how I can identify and re-mediate any continuing vulnerabilities to which I am exposed? Clark
