I'm using Windows 8.1 64bit, and my Firefox is version 30.0. I had install Java JDK which included the JRE, but somehow I couldn't find Java plugin in the Plugins panel. When I open a web page containing Java object, there is a placeholder to notify me to install the Java JRE. FYI, I used to use Firefox on Windows 7, and also installed Java JDK, but it didn't have the problem mentioned above.
