Why won't my tabs close when I close a window?

I click the "X" in the top corner to close out the window. When I open Firefox after, the tabs from the previous window reopen. Before, if I closed the window the tabs would close too unless there was some sort of issue. There doesn't appear to be an issue but they still reopen.

Your settings may have reset themselves (it happens for some reason). Go to the general settings, and tell Firefox which pages to open when it starts. (homepage, blank page, or tabs from last time)

You can also check if you have a user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that sets the browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once pref to true.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
