Since updating to Firefox 40, I am unable to click the bookmark star on my toolbar to modify or remove it. Usually I press the star to bookmark, then press it again and select the folder to put the bookmark in, add any keywords etc. But now it does not work. I can add the bookmark by clicking the star, but I cannot click again to modify it.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.
