why do white boxes appear in my google search

When I do a search in Google using Firefox the search results are now coming out each one in a white box. In addition the Search Count is missing from the top.

I'm assuming this is a feature of Firefox, rather than Google presentation, as when I do the same search using Chrome I get the normal continuous screen and the Search Count at the top.

I've no idea why it simply changed one day! How can I get Firefox back to normal presentation?

hi ChrisDJohnson, this is no firefox feature but a google experiment that they are rolling out to a small fraction of their users. in order to get back to "normal" it's usually enough to clear the cache & cookies from google.com and reload the site...
