Sorry to hear that you are unhappy with some of the Firefox features. Feel free to share your feedback with us so that we can find out how to improve Firefox.

To disable the Awesome Bar drop-down, you can go to the Privacy tab of the Firefox options. Uncheck all three of the options under the Location Bar section and click the Change preferences for search engine suggestions link. From this window, uncheck the Show search suggestions in location bar results option.

To stop the back button from displaying multiple pages in the drop-down, enter about:config into the Firefox address bar. Bypass the warning that you may receive. Change the value for the browser.sessionhistory.max_entries integer to 2.

This should give you the desired behavior.

Note: You may need to restart Firefox for the changes to take effect.
