I have been using "search" to find politically based emails in order to delete them. But I cannot seem to find any assistance on how to go about this deletion. Is there a way to accomplish "deletion" using "search"?

The del button on the keyboard usually works for me.

However, which search mechanism are you using? If the global search, you may find it useful to click on "open emails as list" and the discovered messages will be listed in a more conventional format with the usual toolbar and where the del button will work.
