How to prevent from the address\search-field from resizing and obscuring other buttons on same bar?

I reduced my bars to 2 - on which there are all the buttons of addons etc - most are on the same bar as the address\search field; on the other - the tabs.

When it resizes due to some long URL or something - some of the buttons end-up after it to the right - in a "more tools" menu - which I need to click on - so it unfolds and I can see those buttons.

Or some other way to prevent from the buttons to be obscured. Thanks.

I seem to have solved the problem by installing "Classic Theme Restorer"; which allows to combine tabs and address field to 1 bar (screenshot).

Can you attach a screenshot that shows your current setup?

  • use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot
  • make sure you do not exceed the maximum size of 1 MB

You can consider to move the search bar to the "3-bar" menu button drop-down list via Customization mode or via the right-click context menu of the magnifier icon (Move to Menu).

I don't understand what you meant or what "3-bar" is. P.S. I want to reduce the menus\bars as much as possible; so far I was able to reduce it to 2 bars.

In the screenshot you can see that at the right side - there are 3 buttons in the drop-down menu.

Your screenshot shows the orange Firefox menu button that has been replaced by the "3-bar" menu button (New Fx Menu), so I assume you have an extension (possibly Classic Theme Restorer) that still provides this classic menu button.

If that is the case then try to contact the developer of this extension to see if he has a solution for this problem.

cor-el - the add-on is probably "Hide Caption Titlebar".

So are you implying that the problem doesn't exist for whom doesn't have this button\add-on? Specifically - the address-field doesn't resize and some buttons end-up in the "more tools" menu? Does this menu exist without the theme extension?

I've never experienced the location bar resizing like you reported. I keep the search bar in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list to have a longer location bar and see more of the URL..

Does it still resize if you toggle Full Screen mode on/off or does that restore the normal layout?

I'm afraid I didn't really understood your explanation of what you do in your FireFox; these kinds of things are hard to express\understand in words.

I solved the problem; explained in the next reply.

Thanks.
