Since a view days I'm getting an errormessage when I start both browsers saying that firefox is already running but doesn't react and I should stop the running process to open a new window. In Developer Edition's settings I checked the checkbox, that both versions could be executed simultaneously. Developer Edition verson: 55.0b6 (german) Firefox version: :-( can't look since I'm writing this in Developer Edition

Make sure you run Developer Edition and release Firefox with separate profiles, and you can use Firefox sync to share your data between both channels.

Seems that Firefox was confused over the profiles und attempted to start both with the same. I just didn't think of checking up. Thank you for the quick answer - problem solved! Here is what I did in detail: I started the Profile Manager (there are two profiles: default and developer edition default). From there I started Developer Edition with the corresponding profile ("alway with this profile checked") and it remembered who it belongs to ;-)
