I need new fonts for Open Office but any instructions for adding new fonts say to follow instructions for adding fonts to my browser, which is ?Firefox. But I can't find anything in Firefox to help me do that. I have downloaded several zip files and have unzipped them but they remain in my download file. Where should they be for use by OpenOffice?

Any customization you add to FF isn't a FF support but where your getting the extra software from to provide the support for their software. FF comes in default standard installation and anything you want to change from there is usage of userChrome.css to make those changes.
