Hi, there! Before I could hold in my drop down list the sites that I use. They stayed there fixed and it was ok for me. Now I don`t know why they change every session depending on I don`t know what. It is something to be fixed in about:config but I don`t know what exactly. Thanks

Hi aacupsa, do you mean the "Show history" arrow that appears when you move the mouse over the address bar? Those items are selected and ordered based on "frecency" which is a complicated formula based on frequency and recency. At least, I think that's how it's determined. Since it involves computations over your history, it's not stable, even if the top few items tend to be consistent over time.

Maybe it would be better to use the Bookmarks Menu? You can put the most important items directly on the menu and add the toolbar button using either of these methods:

(A) Use the Customize panel (Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars) to drag the icon to the desired spot on the toolbar

(B) Use the method from Bookmarks in Firefox - section entitled: How do I add the Bookmarks Menu button to the toolbar?

  • Click the "Library" button:
  • Click "Bookmarks"
  • Click "Bookmarking Tools"
  • Click "Add Bookmarks Menu to Toolbar"

Note that you can also pin bookmarks or history items to a tile on the Firefox Home page (about:home and about:newtab).

You are right it` s about that and the first 3 or 4 sites / items do not change (probably because, as you said, they are most used ones). But I am quite sure it was not like this there is some time. I fixed my address bar at 15 items and were all still. I could easily access the useful sites. But I think I can use your advise. Thanks!
