How can I turn off *distracting* display of trackers blocked in bottom right of web pages for Firefox 69?
How to turn off *distracting* display of trackers blocked in bottom right of web pages for Firefox 69?
I appreciate that Firefox is now blocking third party trackers. But I can't stand having a distracting purple display of trackers blocked in every web page. That is unacceptable to me and I want a way to turn off that distracting display on *every* web page.
I find it ironic that distracting ads are being removed (good!) but Firefox developers thought it was a smart idea to *add* its own distracting information on web pages (sheesh -- at least could we have the option to put that tracker summary in the menu bar? -- I would ideally prefer being able to abolish it from even being seen there).
I am a software developer who doesn't care for web page pollution or distraction from the real content, and a tracker blocking summary in my face on every page is definitely pollution.
I'm going back to Chrome because of this one issue (the ad blocker I use only puts its summary count in the menu bar).
Firefox really goofed by adding its own "ad" on *every* web page for its new feature. Now I need a blocker for those ads!

Hello sergei.kucherov,
Do you have Ghostery installed ?

Hi sergei.kucherov,
Could you provide an image of what you're seeing in the bottom right corner regarding the display of blocked trackers? Firefox should only be showing information like this if you click on the shield on the left side of the address bar.

This Ghostery extension disfigures *every* web page for 10 seconds with a bright purple display in the lower right corner of the web page showing all the trackers it has blocked. Yes, bright purple junk added to *every* web page for 10 seconds. Highly distracting and unacceptable for any extension to add spam to web pages.
This extension *must* be changed (in order to not consider it being spam itself) to have an option to allow not showing that purple non-static (hence distracting) spam for 10 seconds on every web page.
Obviously I am uninstalling this spamware now, after incorrectly blaming the problem on the newest version 69 of Firefox (which btw actually recommended this Ghostery extension!).
=======================
I sent the above message when I uninstalled Ghostery.
Thanks so much for your hint on saving my browsing experience!
I only installed Ghostery because Firefox extensions recommended it highly but did not mention what it does to web pages.
Hello again sergei.kucherov,
I'm so sorry that you're disappointed in Ghostery ....
I think that Firefox recommendations are based on the reviews that add-ons have been getting, and for Ghostery they have been absolutely great.
Mozilla doesn't develop these add-ons, but "hosts" them on addons.mozilla.org as a service to users.
Maybe you could contact the developer(s) of the extension and ask them to do something about this problem (?)
Someone replied with how to find the *real* options menu for the Ghostery app.
Unfortunately the *obvious* way to get to options does not result in the same option choices (and is missing the key "purple" icon option) as the other suggested way to get to options.
The way I got to Ghostery options: Firefox->Options->Add-ons->Ghostery Then click on three dots then Options or just More Options.
- Neither* of these has the "purple" icon setting!
You might think that either Options or MoreOptions for the add-on would have all the options, but that is *not* the case when you get to them via Options->Add-ons->Ghostery.
To find the "purple" icon setting you have to go to the *other* kind of options! Those are found by clicking on the Ghostery menu tab icon and then clicking on _that_ page 3 dots and go to _that_ Settings and then Global Settings and then "Purple Box". But here's the thing: I had moved the Ghostery icon into the hidden Customize area, so I had no chance of finding these *other* kind of options.
Why does Ghostery have two different options menus and one is missing Purple Box? Because those developers are obviously idiots who have no clue about usability.
I totally understand your frustration, but you should really
try to contact the add-on's developer(s) about this .....
Will you do that please ?
PLEASE I love Firefox but I HATE that purple thing called a TRACKER. MAKE IT GO AWAY without ME having to do it...I'm not computer literate like you are...this is a pain in the....make it go away!!!

Hello sabellaflour,
If you too are using Ghostery; then will you please contact the developers ? You can use the "Support Email" link under "More information":
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ghostery/
Please, also read the other posts in this thread .....
I requested from Firefox to stop that purple thing that is called a TRACKER and has been bothering me endlessly for a couple days now when it suddenly appeared. Someone from Firefox wrote me this morning about something called GHOSTERY. I have NO CLUE what Ghostery is...and I certainly never requested whoever they are to put that purple thing on my computer. I will though, click on the link Firefox sent me to see what's going on...hopefully to eliminate that purple thing.
