thunderbird 68.1 (68.0?) "move to" message context menu needs search box
my prior version had a search box in the option list when i selected "move to" in the message context menu. in 68.1 the search box is missing. the search box is incredibly useful when you cannot recall the full or accurate name of your targeted folder. the search box must be returned to tb.
Chosen solution
The search is a feature of Quick Folder Move. I've not seen a version for TB 68, but if you want to install TB 60, it's available here.

thanks for the information. i had to find a download of 60. i had to turn off automatic updates in 68. i closed tb. i installed 60. i had to enable all the add-ons that 68 had disabled. looks like everything is working again.
even though i turned off automatic updates, it updated 60 to 68 the next time i used tb. so i installed 60 again and made sure the auto update was off. let's see if it stays without being updated
Check that you don't have a 3rd-party security program, such as Kaspersky, that has a software (any program on the PC) updater component.
i have no auto updaters. today my 60 got updated again to 68.1. this is definately some kind of bug when it fails to obey the do not update automatically option. i would like to report this bug.
