Will not play videos fox news
Will not play videos fox news, the video opens but when you click the play button it just spins the curved arrow and never loads: Firefox- updated 70.0.1 64bit and indicates no updates available, updated graphics card, windows 10Pro version 17763, not an N operating system so I did not reload media player, it will play in safe mode, unchecked performance play, None of these changes fixed the problem. They play fine in Microsoft edge.
Chosen solution
If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block content.
- make sure your extensions and filters are updated to the latest version

Firefox shows an highlighted shield icon at the left end of the location/address bar in case Tracking Protection is blocking content.
- click the shield icon for more details and possibly disable the protection
You can check in the Web Console what content is blocked
- "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Web Developer

You can check in the Web Console if there is more detail available about blocked content.
- "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Web Developer

ps It plays videos from YouTube just fine.
In Fox New web site, you tube and twitter videos play fine but not Fox videos. The Fox videos will play in FF safe mode. I do not have that HTTPS ext that another person was talking about. Can someone please help this computer illiterate?
It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or even add / mal-ware.
Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)
In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Make sure you know what each one is and what it does.
Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All Of Them.
Also, check the programs that are on your computer
Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.
· Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory.
Go thru the list. If you find something that you don't know what it is, use a web search.

One by one disabled all Add on's and no improvement. All addon's are from Firefox things like:
H264
Shockwave Flash
Widevine Content Decryption Module provided by Google Inc.
Under extensions there are only two:
Facebook Container and Webroot Filtering Extension (disabled) - which I did not disable so I assume Firefox did?
Disable Hardware Acceleration {web link}
Restart Firefox. Are there any problems?
I had done this before and it was no help so I thought what the heck I will try it again. The performance options were all still un-selected so I turned them back on and restarted browser - no help, so I unselected it again and restarted the browser again and again no help.

The refresh Firefox button seems to have solved the problem
well it worked for a very short period and then it returned. After it worked I closed the browser and when I opened it again it would not play the video's - strange
Ok I refreshed again and it worked again, I closed the browser and opened it again and it worked, I then opened and closed several times and it worked. Wierd
Thank you.
This is crazy - I left it closed for a while opened again and it would not play the video's. This is truly weird. I have not made any changes to addons or extensions.
ok - another program installed a Web-root filter add on. when it asked to install I hit cancel to not install and then tried to play videos and they worked. But if this is not installed am I protected? Also facebook container was installed by another program -as I did not add it back - I assume that is Mozilla.
May have solved the problem due to your advice. While the shield remained blue while on the Fox site or when I tried to play a video I turned off the protection for this site and since then the video's have been playing. Is that an indication that Firefox needs to adjust it's protection or that Fox is an aggressive tracker?
It's possible something was being blocked while protection was on. Try to disable protection for that site only.
