A Thunderbird message I sent was saved by a recipient on a thumb drive. When the email opens, the email I want to read is an attachment. When the attachment is opened, the email opens without a message body and the attachment is the email. How do I open this attachment and see the message>

If the recipient is using eg: Outlook, then that would explain why the message was saved with a .msg extension. Thunderbird cannot read messages that are in an outlook format.

Create a copy of the saved file. Change the filename .msg extension to say .eml and then see if Thunderbird will open it correctly.
