Previously, the address bar would highlight after a click. Only needed to start typing the new address. Now I must backspace or delete the current address in order to type a new one. How do I change it back? I just switched to a Linux OS from Windows.

On Linux you usually need to double-click on the location bar to select all the text.

Related prefs on about:config :

  • browser.urlbar.clickSelectsAll
  • browser.urlbar.doubleClickSelectsAll

Alternatively you can press the ESC key to select all the text.

Note that Firefox from the Ubuntu repositories may behave differently.

Try the Firefox version from the official Mozilla server if you currently use a version from the repositories of your Linux distribution.
