I am currently using Imac V10.13.6 When I open a new message in Thunderbird I get a second window ( duplicate) over the top of the original message with all the reply address details ready to send. How can I turn this function off?

Chosen solution

If command+O solves the problem but if use "enter" or double click the problem remains. thanks Neil

Could you post a screenshot of the second Window?

Are you seeing this bug, where opening a message from the keyboard produces a second 'Edit as New Message' window? Does it happen if you open messages with the Enter key or Command+O, or the right-click menu?

One user in the bug report found the problem appears when opening with the Enter key on the numerical keyboard, but not the Return key.
