I wanted to print a pdf that I opened/loaded in Firefox. Using the firefox print dialogue, I printed the file with 'Colour Mode' set to 'Black and white'. The document, however, was printed using colours.

Im using Firefox 85.0 on Mac OS 10.14.6.

Any ideas why this happened? Must I just use the system print dialogue?

Thank you for your help to figure this out, and I'm glad to help. :-) If you make the tweak to `print.cups.monochrome.extra_settings` that Emilio suggests over in the bug report and it fixes Black & White printing for you, can you mark this issue resolved?

Hi. Can you tell us the make and model number of your printer? This seems to be an issue that's happening for some Mac users with certain printers, but we've not narrowed down which printers yet.

A temporary workaround should be to use the system print dialog, yes.

Hello.

The printer model is: Xerox WorkCentre 7830 v1 Multifunction System

Thank you so far :)

Awesome, thank you. Would you also be able to provide the printer's PPD files? You can find these by opening the folder `/Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/` and looking for any files with your printer model number in the name. If you can use the "Attach New File" button to attach those to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1676191 (you'll need to create an account there to do that) that would be a great help. We should hopefully also be able to give you a temporary workaround using those files until we get a Firefox update out. Let me know if you have any problems with any of that.

I found the file (called "Xerox WorkCentre 7830.gz") and will now head to the page you directed me to for uploading it. Thank you, again. It is not like I can demand anything, so I am grateful for your willingness to help and improve.

I didn't test thoroughly, but my first result looked good (greyscales only)!

My gratitude is yours and Emilio's.
