I have two gmail accounts that I use with Thunderbird. I am able to send and receive emails from each of them.

My problem is that when I am in my secondary account and if I try to forward an email, I get a popup message that I need to log into my primary gmail account. If I re-enter my password, it says the login failed and I need to change the password for that account.

I tried deleting the saved password, closing Thunderbird, reopening Thunderbird, and logging into the primary account using the same password, I was able to log in, but get the same error.

The server settings for both of my accounts are the same. Any ideas?

Do you have two gmail smtp servers that are the same, except for the User Name (email address), and is each account set to send on the smtp with a matching User Name?

Also, you should have OAuth2 authentication for the incoming and outgoing servers, imap.gmail.com and smtp.gmail.com. Remove the passwords from Saved Passwords in Options, accept cookies in Options/Privacy & Security, restart TB, enter the account password in the OAuth window.

Thank you.

Once I got the security stuff you mentioned straightened out, my next attempt to forward the email got me a pop-up from Google. They consider Thunderbird to be a "less secure app", and blocked access. I had to change that setting and now all is well.

I really appreciate your help.
