I have blocked some pesky cookies addresses in the privacy section of options, but the next day they are gone from the privacy section. So, where did they go or does Firefox clear them when I close Firefox? I don't try to block all cookies but some of the pesky unwanted ones.

Make sure that you do not use Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"
