I can't log onto my iGoogle page or gmail accounts in firefox 3.6.12. I've tried all their suggestions - cookies already enabled, clearing caches and adding to safe list. Tried for 2 days now. Any ideas?

Up until a few days ago, I've been using IE but wanted to switch to Firefox for my default browser. Since then, I can't log in to my Google accounts on Firefox. Its still working (from the same laptop) on IE, however.

Can you log in to that site while in Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history ?

If that works then you may have a problem with the current cookies or the disk cache, both are not use while you are in PB mode.

  • "Clear the Cache": Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
  • "Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems: Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file cookies.sqlite that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite and cookies.txt, if they exist, in the Profile Folder in case cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
