i have done some testing to rule out possible causes.

Opera displays the same page OK, so it's apparently not my Ubuntu 10.04 Linux Operating System or my Nvidia Geforce 8200 video card.

i've Disabled all Plugins & Extensions, but it did not help.

i truly love Firefox, but this "Text Overlap" problem is really severe.

Any Help is Greatly Appreciated!

This issue sounds like it's a problem in their (the website) code and not Firefox.

Could you perhaps post a link to a website which has the text overlap in Firefox please?

One quick option is to go to Edit -> Preferences click the Content tab in the window and look for Fonts and Colours and try changing font size.

I see text overlap if I increase the minimum font size to 13 or above.

If you increased the minimum font size then try the default setting 'none' as a high value can cause issues like you described.

  • Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
  • Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"

Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems: View > Zoom > Reset (Ctrl+0 (zero); Cmd+0 on Mac) See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Zoom_text_of_web_pages

If you need to increase (or decrease) the font size on websites then look at the NoSquint or Default FullZoom Level extension.
