My upwards, downwards, leftwards and rightwards arrows do not show up on any websites using Firefox 4. I do not have the same issue with other browsers. How can I repair this?

For some reason the Unicode upwards, downwards, rightwards and leftwards arrows do not show up on any text on any website I try to view using Firefox 4 on a Macbook Pro. Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions as to how I can repair this if this isn't a normal occurrence?

You can do a check for corrupted fonts and other font issues:

You can also try a different default font.

Thanks for your reply. I've tried all the suggestions you left but nothing has changed. There must be some sort of bug in Firefox 4. As I said, I do not have the same issue with the other browsers installed on my machine. Safari and Chrome display the characters without any problem. This is a real shame as, despite the memory-hogging issue, Firefox 4 has been great for me so far. If anyone has any further suggestions, I would be extremely grateful. Cheers.

Do you have that problem with all arrows and maybe other symbols as well?

It's only really those arrows. The other arrows still show up OK. I've added some screen shots below. One from Firefox (left) and one from Safari (right). There's quite a few symbols missing in Firefox.
