each time I start Firefox this web page opens as my homepage (http://www.searchqu.com/406), I have changed my homepage within tools,options,general and this works so long as I dont close Firefox

From a Google search, some suggestions:

Before continuing I'd add the following to my Adblock Plus filters 

 ||searchqu.com

Sounds like you possibly have an extension that needs to be removed, and something to be removed .
