Chosen solution

You can download Firefox 4.0.1 from here: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/4.0.1/win32/en-US/

Or version 4.0 from here: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/4.0/win32/en-US/

However, be aware that there are security vulnerabilities in both versions which were resolved in version 5.0.x, details here: http://www.mozilla.org/security/known-vulnerabilities/firefox.html

You can get any version from the ftp server: deleted hyperlink to 4.0.1 due to security issues with that unsupported version But think twice if you really want to do this, there might be security issues. I find common sense often is the best "Site Advisor" :) If you really rely on McAfee to provide that for you there's more info here: http://support.mozilla.com/de/questions/841255

I would like to uninstall 5.0 and return to 4.0 as one of my most important add-ons isn't compatible with the newest release. Unfortunately, the files you referenced aren't user friendly to the majority of folks. Is there a simple way to revert back to 4.0 or a "one click" install like for the 5.0 version?

Did Mozilla go crazy or what? What in the world happened. They went from the best browser since the old days of Netscape to the worst thing in the world. For what purpose? To try to "look like" Chrome? Wake up people. Believe in yourselves and keep doing what you do best. You have been on the right track for years but you just jumped the shark with 5.0. Take a lesson from the "New Coca Cola" when they tried to imitate Pepsi. It almost killed the brand. If it is not broke then don't try to fix it.

Were you asleep or live under a rock? Firefox 5 is a minor security / stability update to Firefox 4 which was released 3 months ago. It looks the same except for the Do Not Track pref getting moved to the Privacy tab in Options.

To the edmeister: Yahoo tool-bar went away. I cannot even see the status bar or tray at the bottom of my screen or get to My Documents unless I hit the Windows key to get the Start menu. I have no access to History. My Bookmarks are gone. What are you talking about!?! The unintended changes are huge and having a very negative impact.

@Havanai

That is due to the Yahoo add-on not being compatible with Firefox 5.0.
Your bookmarks aren't gone, you just can't access them right now in Firefox, due to that Toolbar add-on not being compatible with Firefox 5.0.

https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/what-happened-status-bar
Was removed in Firefox 4.0 - not a new change for Firefox 5.0.

As far as the System Tray being hidden, have you tried resizing the browser window? You didn't mention which Operating System you are using, but generally toggling the window between Maximize & Restore usually corrects that.

@the-edmeister Thank you very much for your helpful reply. I did toggle between Maximize and Restore and now the Internet interface I have been using has been restored, including access to my bookmarks. Does that indicate that I have not been using the Yahoo toolbar? At this point, how can I tell what screen interface format or template I am using? Regardless, I very much appreciate your help.

Thanks Xircal!

Another person told me to stay with the 3.6 version for now, but I'm going to keep your download links in case I want to go with 4.0 or 4.0.1. I appreciate your response.
