IE provides a list of search engines via "Add-ons." This is convenient if you wish to disable or get rid of altogether an intrusive engine you didn't ask for. [Options provided by IE]

I cannot discover a way to do this with Firefox.

Chosen solution

For the search bar you can click the search engine icon and open the Manage Search Engine item.
