Good morning,

I followed your 1-2-3 setup plan for firefox 11 on my mac. BUT, whenever I try to start it, I get a message that says something like, "this is an application downloaded from the internet. Are you sure?" And, sure enough, I have an icon on my desktop that I can't eject without ending my being able to use firefox. Its name is "aol_edition_for_firefox.dmg"

What is the problem, and why can't I run this in the normal way? I'm on a mac, ver 10.6.8 of snow leopard.

Sounds that you've installed a special AOL Firefox version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop

  • Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
  • Install the new version that you have downloaded

Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.
