Installed a theme that didn't work, now the default theme is bad too!

I tried "Modern Tool Icons for XP", but didn't notice the "for XP" part until after I installed it, so I removed it & went back to the Default. Unfortunately, now the default theme won't show any colors; it's just white symbols on the background. Even the secure part of the URL bar is just shades of gray. What can I do to reclaim the default as it should be?

You can try to take a backup of the extensions listing via Firefox Help (Alt + H) > Troubleshooting Information > Copy all to clipboard.

In almost all the cases, the discontinued extensions would be already having either a better alternative or a better maintained fork. You can try to search using common words or variations via Firefox Tools (Alt + T) > Add-ons search box on the top right or @ AMO. For themes, please also try Personas for Firefox.

If you would like to try out new, experimental or currently missing features, please see these alternatives:

Beta

Aurora

Nightly

UX

The Beta version is the most stable in that order.

Hi,

You can consider the Reset Firefox feature via Help (Alt + H) > Troubleshooting Information.

Thanks for the answer. I'm disappointed at how difficult (to put it mildly) it is even to list my extensions for later re-insallation. I notice that a few of the authors of my extensions are giving up on this suite of products. I also have noticed a deterioration in Mozilla products in the past few years.

I'm considering changing to a browser that does what Mozilla used to do, rather than the useless "pretty-boy" nonsense it has become.

IE is out (always has been, always will be). What good browsers are out there for Windows?
