Hi, I have macbook retina. OS X 10.8.2

When I try to save an image off a website it comes up with a pop up box and makes me choose preview document or all files. It has preview document as default. Using this default when I save a picture on desktop... there is no preview icon. The desktop icon for the picture is a blank white. Of course when I click on it, it opens and I can see the picture, but the desktop icon is a plain white and I have no idea what the picture looks like without opening it. If I click on "all files", than 50% of the time the desktop icon works and I can see the picture on the desktop icon, than the other 50% of the time it doesn't work.

Unlike Safari, I click just right click, than save as, and (1) it doesn't have an annoying pop up, with the wrong default and (2) it works 100% of the time.

How do I make it to where pictures are automatically saved on desktop and I can view the picture on the desktop icon, without having to open the picture file

Chosen solution

Drag and drop the image to the desktop. It should then be saved there.
