Firefox session restore not restoring tabs due to open window upon last closing

I accidentally closed Firefox without closing a window that spawned when I logged out of an email client, and now loading up Firefox just brings me to that particular window. I opened up sessionstore.bak to have a look and saw that all my old tabs were still in there, but I can't figure out for the life of me which lines I need to remove to get my old tabs back (I had about 20 - 30 open).

I backed up the .bak and fiddled around with it, but the best I've been able to get is Firefox loading up my homepage instead of my old tabs. I'd appreciate any suggestions, I've spent the last hour trying to Google up a solution or blunder through it myself.

Did you check for History > Recently Closed Windows and possibly Tabs?

Hello backfire,

rename the sessionstore.bak to sessionstore.js then make a copy of the file (the renamed sessionstore.js) to your desktop and then try to create a new profile and move the copy in the new profile to see if that works.

thank you

Wow, didn't expect to get any answers so quickly.

I renamed sessionstore.bak to sessionstore.js, but still had the same issue. From there, however, I was able to restore all my old tabs by checking History > Recently Closed Windows.

Thanks so much for the prompt and courteous replies, I really appreciate it!
