My PC was working ok, but I decided to format it because it was time.

I did it, and when I was using the recently installed firefox, it crashes. And did it again few minutes later, and again, and so on.

Tried in deactivating Add-ons, deactivating Sync, reseting Firefox, reinstalling Firefox, format again, installing an updated windows 7, but it keeps doing it.

Run memtest all night, all perfect. Hard drive perfect too.

I don't know what to do now, so I follow the steps here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-crashes-troubleshoot-prevent-and-get-help and now I'm asking you about it.

If you need any more information, please let me know.

Chosen solution

I updated the Bios, as an user from this forum suggest me: http://foros.3dgames.com.ar/software.30/813230.win-7-bsod-crasheo-firefox-chrome-flash-entre-otros.html (spanish)

And now is solved, so that was the problem.

My PC: AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition Asus M3A78-EM 8GB memory Sapphire Radeon HD 4850

Those crashes have to do with JavaScript garbage collection (likely memory corruption).

Did you try Safe Mode?

more options

Yes. I used the "Reset Firefox" feature, I navigate on Firefox for a few minutes without installing anything, and crashed again.

Did you try to disable plugins as well (Safe Mode doesn't affect plugins)?

Do the crashes still happen in Safe Mode?

In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:

  • all extensions are disabled
  • the default theme is used (no persona)
  • userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored
  • the default toolbar layout is used (localstore-safe.rdf)
  • the Javascript JIT compiler is disabled
  • hardware acceleration is disabled
  • plugins are not affected
  • preferences are not affected

Safe mode. Plugins disabled manually. Crashed a minute ago:
