I believe problem is at the web site, not firefox. I just can't log in to my account at Merrill Lynch. Their instructions for a work around are to use Internet Explorer.

I am still able to log into my other password protected accounts. I have used Firefox successfully for at least a couple of years to access the Merrill Account. Something changed last week.

The site error message says something like, an error occurred in processing and try again later.

Just trying to let you know.

Have you tried bypassing the cache....?

This can be caused by corrupted cookies or cookies that are blocked (check the permissions on the about:permissions page).

Clear the cache and the cookies from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Edit > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

If clearing cookies doesn't work then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies is corrupted.

Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
