how do i delete my account without a password?

more options

I want to delete my sync account but need a password to do so. As far as i recall, I have not set or received a password, but Firefox is asking me for one in relation to my email address, and I cannot do a password reset as it seems a different email address is somehow associated with MY email address and therefore not possible to get one! I am going around in circles now....

You set a password as part of creating the sync account (quite possibly within the browser during sync setup). If you go to https://account.services.mozilla.com/forgot and type in your email address, what does it tell you?

Is the account > 3 years old? It's possible that it wants a username rather than an email address. We can tell that, but it involves turning on logging and looking at URLs. You might want to hop on irc.mozilla.org and ask us in the #sync channel.
