Does Firefox give you an error message when trying to import bookmarks.html?

(If the bookmarks.html file was created from Safari, there are some known file format differences that may require you to make a small edit to the HTML code in a text editor. Let's come back to that if needed.)

If you try to import a bookmarks.html file from Safari, see:

You can edit the HTML file and remove all FOLDED attributes in the H3 tags (leave the H3 tags).

<DT><H3 FOLDED>Bookmarks Bar</H3> -> <DT><H3>Bookmarks Bar</H3>

i tried editing the html file Cor-el but there was nothing to edit as when opened, the file was blank

Can you open this HTML file in a Firefox tab (File > New Tab > Open File) for inspection ?

EDIT (I missed your last reply):
If the file is blank then something went wrong with creating this HTML backup.

Did you ever had problems with the bookmarks?

Can you check for JSON backups (bookmarks-####-##-##.json) in the bookmarkbackups folder in the Firefox profile folder?

Do you still have access to files in the Firefox profile folder folder of the previously used account?

Perhaps there is more than one bookmarks.html file on your system? I don't know how to search a Mac globally, including other user accounts and hidden folders, but I think it's worth a shot if you can do it.
