I got a Firefox User survey saying that I won something, is this a scam?

A separate window popped up and said, "Congratulations, you have won the 2014 Annual Visitor Survey (Houston). I answered the survey questions, and then it gave me the choice of 3 prizes. That's where I stopped and realized that this may be a scam of some sort. Does Firefox even do this kind of thing, because it looks really well done. If not, is there a way to report this as a scam? If I did win something, that's great, but I want to make sure this is safe first. Thank you

hello, unfortunately you are right to be suspicious about that. this appears to be a scam tactic and no genuine messages by firefox or mozilla, since we don't run such kind of business or promotions, we are focusing on developing great software products instead!

maybe it's a problem caused by adware on your pc. please go to tools > addons > extensions & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc).

Remove a toolbar that has taken over your Firefox search or home page Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware

if it is a website that is using the firefox brand in order to attract attention or misleading users to participate in these surveys, you can report that as a trademark violation to mozilla at https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/legal/fraud-report/ so that further action can be taken on it.

thank you!
