I've tried trouble-shooting this issue myself, but I'm finding it difficult to describe my exact issue. One of my favorite features of Firefox, includes the ability to use the address bar as a search bar with my chosen search engine. However, lately whenever I try to enter searches into the address, bar, they are automatically turned into urls having "http://" added to the beginning of the search, and leaving me with a blank page. For example , the search "grapes" would yield "http://grapes/". Oddly though, when my search includes one or more terms, it seems to work perfectly normal, so it seems that it's isolated to single-worded search entries. I've read a few posts regarding the use of about:config, although they were not specific enough to help me determine if it pertained to my particular issue. Any help that could be offered would be great.

hello, can you please try it with firefox 33 beta. it should no longer interpret a one word entry into the address bar as a domain, that it tries to resolve first, but sends it as a search term to your chosen engine right away: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/channel/#beta
