Trouble scrolling through search result page (as opposed to scrolling through search results)

When scrolling a page of search results using the arrow keys on my keyboard, instead of scrolling down the page itself, an arrow shows up next to the first result then moves down the list each time I press the down arrow. I never want to "scroll" this way - it takes much longer for me to look through results. I want to scroll down the page to see NEW results that I couldn't see before because they were too far down. "Scrolling" the default way through each result means I have to press the down arrow 3 or 4 times for each single press of the down arrow I would need for normal scrolling, because it's just scrolling through the results that are already displayed on the screen that I already saw and already dismissed as not what I'm looking for.

I assume the concept is that you can "scroll" through the results and just press enter when you get to the one you want rather than having to select it with the mouse and click, but as that isn't how I use the mouse or arrow keys for any other type of page on the web, it's very disruptive to have to switch to scrolling with mouse on a search page, and I haven't been able to find a setting to turn this feature off. Am I missing something?

You can use the Page Up / Down. If you have a wheel on your mouse, you can use it. The space bar can also be used.

Space Next {web link} Press the "Space" key at the end of a page to load the next page (à la Opera)
