Why does Firefox still leave the window open after I close all of my tabs?

more options

I have Firefox set to remember my tabs when I close. Whenever I individually close all of my tabs, the browser window stays open with a blank background and address bar. I have to close the window by clicking the X in the corner because there are no tabs left. Whenever I get down to my last tab, I can drag the tab to make a new window, and it will leave the blank window behind. What's going on here?

Hmm, I think there is a setting for this. Could you check here:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste tabs and pause while the list is filtered

(3) If the browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab preference is bolded and user set to false, double-click click it to restore the default value of true.

If that isn't it, could you check for a separate tab group? The shortcut Ctrl+Shift+e displays tab groups for the current window. To return to a normal display, you can press Ctrl+Shift+e again or click the tab you want to be active.
