All my normal sites seem to work fine, yahoo, Zillow, etc. When I try Craigslist it just spins and then times out. It worked this morning. My Work computer which also on the same router works fine. Now, when I type in WWW.craigslist, it goes to my home page and will not even try to go to Craigslist. I have run Spybot, MalwareBytes, and MS Security Essentials and nothing has been flagged.

Ideas?

Could there be a block of the system? Check with your IP

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

What protection programs are you using? As a test, disable them.

Nope, no good

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

Can you access the website via Google Translate with a random source language?

That means that something is blocking direct access to the Craigslist website.

This could be security software or malware.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.

Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

It is possible that your IP is blocked for some reason by the Craigslist server. In such a case connecting via an anonymous proxy that gives you another IP would work.

Can you ping the Craigslist server? How far does a tracert come?

Hi, getting a bit technical :-) I have Comcast 150Meg down that both my personal PC and my work PC are plugged into. My personal PC can not get to Craigslist but my Work PC can.
