Thunderbird crashing when opening some emails [@ MimeMultipart_parse_eof ]
Hi,
we have a user that's having an issue with thunderbird crashing when opening certain emails. Not all emails just a few from the ones received each day. The crash signature relates it to the following unsolved bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1016524
The user did not submit all crash reports but the ones that were submitted follow:-
bp-aa9a5f44-ce90-4494-86a5-296d92160204 bp-b3513a59-5569-4328-8cbc-237f82160208 bp-fdfe8f2f-099a-4437-bc94-242e32160210 bp-d96f869c-7b31-44f7-bcee-e0db82160210 bp-ebc6b533-2cac-4e5f-8ac6-38f922160210 bp-a392ce9b-3eb5-47b3-9cfd-e30f62160210
Then we upgraded to windows 10 but the issue persists:-

We have disabled add ons, reinstalled Thunderbird, deleted the accounts and data stores and re-downloaded the email from scratch but the issue persists.
Any help or suggestions appreciated
Kind regards Ian

Is there a pattern with these crashes? Do the emails causing the crash have a Zip attachment as per the referenced bug? Developers need to be able to reproduce the crash in order to fix it.
I did ask the user today if the emails that caused the issue all had attachments but the user couldn't remember so I have asked that she keeps a note. However the point in the referenced bug is that they don't seem to be able to reproduce it, so I don't think its related to the email as such but perhaps more related to hardware. I am going to try switching off hardware acceleration in Thunderbird but that's a bit of a long shot. I was hoping someone who understands the crash reports better than I do might be able to point to something.
Thanks for reporting your issue. HWA is indeed an unlikely cause.
christ1 is correct - we very much need a testcase email from a user for the developer to reproduce the crash.
