This may be a message from your security software or from the system about a website or external program wishing to connect back to your Firefox. Unless you are intentionally trying to "share" your Firefox with someone, I would definitely Deny.

As for what is triggering it, I don't know. Possibly a website you're visiting or one of your add-ons??

If this comes up pretty frequently, maybe test in Firefox's Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the option/alt key when starting Firefox. (On Windows, one holds down the Shift key instead of option/alt.)

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

• "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
• Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Thank you very much for you info. It can't be a website asking to connect, since I experienced this while surfing a wide variety of websites. So it must be an add-on or something else. I just started Firefox in Safe Mode. Until now no message has popped up, but it's too early to say this solved anything.

To be safe https://www.malwarebytes.com/mac/ do a scan to be safe.

Mozilla does not make any new Firefox Releases available early on any random download sites as this site just did what a lot of download sites do, grabbed it from say http://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/

This jump the gun effect used to be worse when Mozilla used to have mirrors instead of the CDN they have in use now.
