Between (in the tab order) the browser's tab bar and its address bar, there's a control (a "box"?) which contains both the information icon (a circled "i") and the padlock icon. When I hover over the "i", a "Show site information" tooltip is displayed. When I hover over the padlock (while on the nvaccess.org Web page), a "Verified by: COMODO CA Limited" tooltip is diplayed. [See composite screenshot.]

When I tab to this control: • Windows 10's Narrator simply announces it as "View Site Information", "Button". • The (free, open-source) NVDA screen reader announces it as "Search or Enter address", "Combo box", "Collapsed".

Neither seems right. What is the right name for this control?

To the left of the Padlock for Secure/insecure Browsing it is called Site Information & Notifications. (No idea if it has a Official name, every one describes it as the Green or Broken Padlock so can tell people to check to the left of it.) Usually just Describe what they are looking for also.

We in Support never call it anything, that I know of.

You are correct on the names of the Icons as per Above for individual and here ya go, news to me the name of the box controls : https://blog.mozilla.org/security/2015/11/03/updated-firefox-security-indicators-2/
